Timeline supports daily review, filtering, and preparation without plaintext storage.
The Timeline is the primary view for browsing tracked time entries. You can switch between personal and workspace data, navigate by day, week, or month, and prepare a timesheet directly from the same page.
Scope and Navigation
Scope Selector
At the top of the page, choose what data to display:
- All — Combines personal and workspace entries into one view.
- Personal — Shows only your own entries.
- Workspace — Shows entries for the selected workspace.
When you switch to Workspace, you can also choose the workspace and, when member data is available, filter by a specific user.
Granularity
Switch between three levels of detail:
- Day — Shows all entries for a single day.
- Week — Shows entries grouped by day across the week.
- Month — Shows entries grouped by day across the month.
Date Navigation
Use the navigation controls to move through time:
- Previous / Next step backward or forward by the current granularity.
- Today jumps back to the current period.
- The large date label shows the visible period.
- Refresh re-fetches timeline data from the server.
The Entry Table
Each entry is shown in a table with these columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Time | Start and end time |
| Duration | Entry duration |
| Title | Entry title or protected placeholder |
| Task | The resolved task or project label for the entry |
| User | The person who tracked the entry |
In preparation mode, an extra Actions column appears so you can exclude or restore individual records.
Encrypted Entries
Time entry titles can be protected. When your keys are unlocked, titles are decrypted in the browser. When access is still locked, entries display a protected placeholder and you can unlock from the timeline without leaving the page.
If decryption fails for a specific record, the entry shows a decrypt error state.
Task Labels
The Task column shows labels resolved from your Project Rules configuration. If a workspace policy suppresses task labels, the page shows a notice and links to the relevant settings page.
Day Grouping
In Week and Month views, entries are grouped under day headers. Each day shows a subtotal, and the page also shows a total bar for the visible period.
Preparation Mode
Preparation mode is used to assemble a timesheet from timeline records.
Entering Preparation Mode
Click Prepare your timesheet in the timeline header.
This action is available when you are in a submit-supported scope:
- Personal scope supports preparation.
- Workspace scope supports preparation for your own entries.
- All scope does not support preparation.
- In workspace scope, preparation is disabled if you are filtering another user’s entries.
You can also arrive here from the Timesheets page by clicking Prepare current period, which pre-fills the scope and date range.
Preparation mode adds filters and actions for timesheet assembly.
Project Filter and Advanced Task Filtering
Preparation mode includes two layers of filtering:
- Project filters — Quick filters based on your configured project categories.
- Advanced task filtering — Optional matchers for edge cases.
Advanced task matchers support:
- Exact matches
- Prefix matches
- Glob matches
- Uncategorized work for records without a task key
Excluding Entries
In preparation mode, use the Actions column to exclude individual records from the timesheet. Excluded records move into the Excluded Entries sidebar, where you can restore them if needed.
Submitting a Timesheet
When you are satisfied with the prepared set, click Submit timesheet.
This creates the timesheet snapshot for the selected period and sends it into the timesheet workflow. After submission, the period appears on the Timesheets page for follow-up actions and review.
