Portal guide

Getting Started

Sign in, finish onboarding, and set up personal or workspace access in the portal.

Getting Started

Portal onboarding guides access setup, browser trust, and account configuration in order.

This guide walks you through your first login, the onboarding wizard, and the initial setup steps needed before you can start using Trackself effectively.

Logging In

To access the Trackself User Portal, navigate to the portal URL and sign in with your email and password.

If you are already signed into the Trackself licensing portal, you may be automatically authenticated via single sign-on (SSO) without needing to re-enter your credentials.

After logging in, you are taken to the Overview Dashboard.

The portal starts from a standard sign-in flow before redirecting into the dashboard or onboarding.

The Onboarding Wizard

When you first log in, or when setup is still incomplete, the onboarding wizard opens automatically.

The wizard is step-based and adapts to your current setup state. In the current portal, the flow can include these steps:

  1. Welcome — A quick introduction to portal setup.
  2. How setup works — Explains what the browser needs before protected content can be shown.
  3. Set up access methods — Appears when your Personal Access is incomplete.
  4. Set up this browser — Appears when this browser still needs to be unlocked or trusted.
  5. Personal settings — Appears when your personal timezone, week start, or default currency still need review.
  6. Workspace settings — Appears when a workspace admin needs to finish shared workspace defaults.
  7. Project rules — Appears when project defaults still need to be configured.
  8. Access & next steps — Wraps up setup and offers the guided portal tour.

The wizard skips steps that are already complete.

Onboarding

Onboarding guides access setup, browser trust, and configuration steps in order.

Access Setup Paths

The access-related part of onboarding follows one of two common paths:

Path A — Unlock and trust this browser

If your Personal Access already exists, onboarding usually asks you to:

  1. Unlock Personal Access using your access code, access password, or a previously saved browser PIN.
  2. Set up this browser so protected content can be unlocked more easily in future sessions.

Path B — Create Personal Access first

If Personal Access has not been created yet, onboarding first guides you through:

  1. Creating your Personal Access methods.
  2. Unlocking and preparing this browser.

Settings Steps During Onboarding

The wizard can also route you into settings pages that are part of onboarding:

  • Personal settings can appear for any signed-in user.
  • Workspace settings appear only when you have permission to manage workspace configuration.
  • Project rules appear when rule defaults still need attention for your current role and setup.

In practice, this means onboarding is not limited to access setup. It can also guide you through the configuration needed for reporting and workspace defaults.

The Tour

After setup, the wizard can launch a guided portal tour. The tour adapts to your current role and workspace situation.

Typical tour coverage is:

  • Admins — Overview, Timeline, Timesheets, Team Workspaces, Reports, Devices & Sync, Access Setup, Project Rules, and Workspace configuration.
  • Managers — Overview, Timeline, Timesheets, Reports, Devices & Sync, and Access Setup.
  • Members — Overview, Timeline, Timesheets, Devices & Sync, and Access Setup.
  • Personal-only users — Overview, Timeline, Timesheets, Reports, Devices & Sync, Access Setup, Personal Settings, and Project Rules.

You can skip the tour at any time.

Guided tour

The post-setup tour highlights the parts of the portal that match your role.

Until onboarding is fully complete, the sidebar shows a Finish setup prompt to remind you about unfinished setup work. After onboarding is complete, the sidebar can offer general tips or a Reopen tour action.

Next Steps

Once onboarding is complete, you are ready to start using the portal:
