Jira Integration

Connect Jira Cloud, choose the sites and projects you care about, and send worklogs from tracked entries.

Trackself connects to Jira Cloud so you can track time against Jira issues and sync worklogs automatically. This is a premium feature.

Note: Jira integration is not available in the Mac App Store build.
Connect Jira

Enable Jira Integration before connecting an account and loading project data.

Connecting Your Jira Account

  1. Open the menu and select Integrations.
  2. Turn on the Jira Integration switch.
  3. Under Jira Integration Users, click Connect Jira Account.
  4. Your browser opens Atlassian's authorization page.
  5. Sign in and grant Trackself the requested permissions.
  6. When the browser page tells you to close the window and return to Trackself, switch back to the app.
  7. Wait for Trackself to finish fetching your Jira configuration. If needed, use Retry on the account card.

The connection uses OAuth 2.0 through a secure proxy (oauth.trackself.io), so Trackself never sees your Atlassian password.

You can connect more than one Jira account if needed. Each connected account appears under Jira Integration Users.

Permissions Requested

Trackself requests the following Jira permissions:

  • Read and write worklogs — to sync your tracked time
  • Read issues — to show issue titles and keys in autocomplete
  • Read workflows — to understand issue statuses
  • Offline access — to keep syncing in the background

Configuring Sites, Projects, and Issue Types

After connecting, Trackself fetches your available Jira Cloud sites.

  1. In Jira Sites, enable the sites you want to use.
  2. Expand a site to review its filters:
    • Assigned to me
    • In progress
  3. Expand Configure projects for that site.
  4. Enable the projects you want Trackself to use.
  5. Expand a project and enable the issue types you want included.

Only enabled sites, projects, and issue types are used for autocomplete and worklog sync.

If a project list looks stale, use the project menu to Refresh projects.

Project scope

Limit autocomplete and worklog sync to the Jira sites, projects, and issue types you actually use.

Tracking Time Against Jira Issues

Once configured, Jira issue keys appear in autocomplete suggestions. To track time against a Jira issue:

  1. Start typing the issue key (for example, PROJ-) in the quick entry field.
  2. Select the issue from autocomplete.
  3. Use the @ format, such as PROJ-123@working on the fix.
  4. Start tracking as usual.

The category (PROJ-123) links the entry to the Jira issue for worklog sync.

If an issue does not appear, check whether its site, project, and issue type are enabled and whether the Assigned to me or In progress filters are hiding it.

Worklog Sync

Completed entries with valid Jira issue keys are synced to Jira as worklogs in the background. Running timers are synced after you stop them.

Disconnecting

To disconnect Jira, open Integrations and delete the Jira account you no longer want connected from Jira Integration Users. Your local time entries remain in Trackself, but deleted Jira accounts stop syncing worklogs.
